The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marquardt fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sozi avoids it really well and circles away.
Marquardt misses with a double jab.
Marquardt throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sozi.

Marquardt tries to sprawl but Sozi drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Sozi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marquardt wants to sweep but Sozi has passed to side control!
Marquardt dodges the ground and pound from Sozi.
Marquardt is looking to reverse the position.

Sozi connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Marquardt some visible discomfort.
Sozi sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Marquardt is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Sozi tries for a kimura but Marquardt is defending well.
Marquardt is trying to get back to half guard.
A lull in the action here as Sozi stalls from top position.

Sozi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Sozi is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Marquardt is trying to escape and Sozi transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Marquardt is forced to tap! Nice work there by Sozi! Very nice indeed!
