The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gerhardt looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Gerhardt takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Gerhardt is trying to control Miller's posture but Miller avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gerhardt managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Miller.
Gerhardt gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Gerhardt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Miller on the ground.
Gerhardt's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Gerhardt tries to hold on but Miller pushes him away.
Miller looking for a guillotine from mount but Gerhardt is having none of it.
Miller avoids the attempt from Gerhardt to control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Miller cracks Gerhardt with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Gerhardt is working to get back to half guard.
The referee warns Gerhardt that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
