The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blastoise chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Blastoise throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lavelle was covering up waiting for the punch and Blastoise finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Lavelle utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blastoise sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lavelle's guard.
Blastoise has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
