PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Apollo Greed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jan Kowalski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kowalski comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Zaraz Cie Zniszcze kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Apollo Greed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jan Kowalski!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kowalski moves into the clinch.
Kowalski pushes off an throws an elbow but Greed leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Kowalski is trying to trip Greed. He has hold of a leg but Greed is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kowalski persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Kowalski trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kowalski accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kowalski throws a strike but Greed rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Greed pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kowalski is keeping the position for now.

Kowalski is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Greed is aware though and is defending well.
Kowalski keeping moving, preventing Greed from controlling successfully.

Kowalski is looking for a triangle but Greed pushes his legs off easily.

Kowalski had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Greed defends it easily.
Greed pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kowalski is keeping the position for now.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Kowalski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Greed can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Greed thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kowalski had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Greed defends it easily.

Kowalski is looking for a triangle but Greed pushes his legs off easily.

Kowalski is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Greed defends well.

Greed thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Greed got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kowalski has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Greed has managed to get both his arms back between Kowalski's legs - danger averted.

Greed slips a nice elbow through Kowalski's hands, connecting with Kowalski's forehead.

Greed is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Kowalski is trying to stand up here but Greed is controlling him well.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Greed is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Kowalski!

That was a close round but I would say that Apollo Greed will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Kowalski has his foot on Greed's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Greed works his way back into a safe position though.

Jan Kowalski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Jan Kowalski comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kowalski has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
