Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos throws a left and a right that both miss
and Carter counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Santos takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Santos shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Santos is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Carter still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Carter has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Carter remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Carter bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Santos! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

Santos is rocked!
Carter's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Santos is still in real trouble! Can Carter finish him?
Carter has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Carter postures up and lands a big shot to Santos's brow.
Santos seems to have recovered his senses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Brent Carter.
Santos doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Carter counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Aj Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Carter cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Santos tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Carter was well out of range. Poor timing from Santos.

and Carter counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Santos misses with a takedown attempt
and Carter counters with a stiff right hand.
Carter cracks Santos with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Santos tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Carter pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Santos is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
