Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Sagat!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sagat closes the distance looking to clinch
and Johnson counters with a stiff right hand.
Sagat throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johnson circles away from the clinch attempt
and Johnson counters with an outside leg kick.
Sagat is looking to clinch.
Sagat misses with a head kick.
Sagat checks a leg kick.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sagat moves in looking to clinch but Johnson pushes him off.

Sagat on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Sagat throws a head kick that misses.
Sagat misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Sagat moves into range and clinches up with Johnson.
Sagat prevents Johnson from breaking the clinch.
Johnson is trying to break the clinch but Sagat has him pressed against the ropes.

Sagat tries to throw a body punch but Johnson avoids it by throwing Sagat back against the ropes.
Sagat misses with a knee to the head.

Sagat manages to break the clinch.
Sagat tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Johnson counters with a nice low kick that buckles Sagat's knee momentarily.
Johnson swats away the attempt to clinch by Sagat.

Sagat tries to clinch there but Johnson circles away.
Sagat tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Johnson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sagat blocks the body kick.
Johnson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sagat manages to avoid it.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Sagat misses with a head kick.
Sagat tries to clinch but Johnson is having none of it.

Sagat gets a clinch.
Sagat lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Johnson managing to block the knees to the body from Sagat.
Sagat tries to land a knee to the head but Johnson blocks with his arms.

Johnson wants to break free but Sagat has control.
Johnson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Sagat as Johnson tries to tie him up.

Sagat pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sagat tries to clinch there but Johnson circles away.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses

and Sagat moves into the clinch.

Sagat breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Sagat has Johnson up against the ropes in a clinch.

Sagat breaks from the clinch.
Sagat moves to clinch but Johnson breaks away
and Johnson counters with a big head kick but Sagat shrugs it off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sagat tries to clinch but Johnson moves out of range.
Sagat is looking to clinch.

Sagat throws out a head kick that Johnson doesn't see coming - it connects and sends Johnson crashing to the mat face first! He's bounced up to his knees and is scrambling to get back to his feet and beat the count. He's up on 5 but still looks a bit groggy; will the referee allow it to continue??? He's taking a good look into Johnson's eyes and has decided to let it go on!


Johnson is rocked!


It looks like Chris Johnson has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sagat is looking to clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sagat tries to clinch but Johnson is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Having scored a knockdown, Jay Sagat should take round 1, putting pressure on his opponene back strong in round 2.
The cut man is working on Chris Johnson's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Johnson counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Sagat tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Johnson counters with a leg kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sagat looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jay Sagat seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Sagat closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Johnson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Sagat's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Sagat looks low and kicks high, catching Johnson right on the side of the head, sending him crashing to the canvas! Will he be able to beat the count? 3,4,5 - he's already back to his feet and ready to go! Let's see if he's still with it!
Oh Johnson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sagat wants to clinch
and Johnson counters with a nice low kick that buckles Sagat's knee momentarily.
Sagat blocks a head kick by Johnson.
Johnson seems to have got his legs back now.
Jay Sagat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sagat wants to clinch.
A head kick misses from Sagat.
Sagat throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sagat wants to clinch but Johnson slips to the side
and Johnson counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Sagat is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Sagat tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance.
Johnson blocks a head kick by Sagat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sagat looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Sagat backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Johnson's temple! It sends Johnson violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Sagat celebrates and the doctors try to help Johnson!
