The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anaconda shoots and misses

and Tate counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Anaconda is not content to let Tate control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tate controlling the pace.
Tate prevents Anaconda from standing back up.
Tate lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Anaconda is looking to escape.

Anaconda kicks Tate off and gets back to his feet.
Anaconda takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Thomas Tate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A looping hook to the body misses from Tate. Anaconda does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Anaconda counters with a single leg into guard. Tate didn't expect that.
Tate is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Tate keeping moving, preventing Anaconda from controlling successfully.
Tate really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Anaconda. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Anaconda is looking to work some ground and pound but Tate has wrist control.
Tate is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Silas Anaconda has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Anaconda shoots in looking for a takedown but Tate manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Anaconda's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

No joy there for Tate, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Tate takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Tate throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Tate counters with a nice double leg into side control. Anaconda won't be happy with that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tate is looking to take a break and control but Anaconda is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Anaconda seems a little lost for a moment, as Tate dominates the positioning.
Anaconda wants to control but Tate postures up.
Tate wants to stand but Anaconda has his arm trapped.

Anaconda shoots for a double leg takedown but Tate sprawls well. He's pushed Anaconda's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Tate throws a series of punches but Anaconda avoids them all with ease.

and Anaconda decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tate's guard.
Anaconda tries to free his leg and advance position but Tate is retaining full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tate is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Anaconda is aware though and is defending well.
Anaconda is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Anaconda drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Anaconda jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Anaconda accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Tate manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Anaconda manages to get himself to full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tate closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Anaconda did well to prevent Tate getting side control.

Tate is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Tate with the ground and pound but Anaconda uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Tate throws a strike but Anaconda rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Tate wants to hit a switch here but Anaconda passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Tate there!
Anaconda tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Anaconda has control of Tate's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Tate regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Anaconda is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Tate can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
