PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Scott Randleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Basileo Gallegos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Randleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Basileo Gallegos!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Randleman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gallegos looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Randleman has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gallegos enables Randleman to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gallegos manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Gallegos is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Randleman trying to control the position from guard on top but Gallegos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Gallegos keeping moving, preventing Randleman from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gallegos not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Randleman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gallegos on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Scott Randleman just wasn't active enough.

Randleman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gallegos sprawls well initially but Randleman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Randleman is keen to just control but Gallegos is a slippery customer.

Randleman prevents Gallegos from improving his position.
Gallegos has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Randleman is working away from the top position though.

Randleman seems to be working for a kimura but Gallegos defends the submission attempt.

Well, if Randleman is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Randleman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gallegos is pressing down on Randleman's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Randleman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Randleman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Randleman has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gallegos is proving hard to escape from.
Randleman is breathing heavily.

Gallegos working for a triangle but Randleman defends it easily.

Gallegos wants to sweep but no luck.
Gallegos has control of Randleman's left arm, preventing Randleman from doing any damage.
Gallegos not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Randleman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Gallegos is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Randleman defends well.
Randleman won't allow Gallegos to sweep him here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gallegos has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Randleman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Randleman with a flurry of punches that miss.

Gallegos is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Randleman rolls with it to try and escape but Gallegos cranks on the arm and Randleman is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Basileo Gallegos!
Basileo Gallegos bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
