Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johny Hendricks!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Melvin Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hendricks moves out of range of the body kick.
Johnson misses with an uppercut.
Johnson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hendricks sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hendricks shoots in for a double leg but Johnson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hendricks slips a straight right by Johnson.
Johnson looks to land a left hand but Hendricks moved out of range nicely.
Johnson looks to throw the jab but Hendricks is out of range.
Johnson looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Johnson jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Hendricks closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Johnson's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Hendricks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Johnson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hendricks is controlling him.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Hendricks controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Johnson wants to stand but Hendricks is controlling the position.
Hendricks is looking to work some ground and pound but Johnson has wrist control.
Johnson wants to get back to his feet but Hendricks is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Hendricks's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hendricks has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hendricks gets the takedown into side control.
Johnson takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Hendricks lands a few punches from side control.
Johnson seems a little lost for a moment, as Hendricks dominates the positioning.

Hendricks looks up at the clock and then as Johnson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hendricks smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
