PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mikki Basaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Rahman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Basaev kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is hollywood undead- undead. Mikki Basaev has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rahman throws a body punch but Basaev moves out of range.
Basaev shoots in and drives through. Rahman sprawls well.
Basaev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Basaev takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Rahman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rahman stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mikki Basaev. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rahman throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Basaev bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Basaev jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Rahman manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Rahman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Basaev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Basaev has control of Rahman's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rahman regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rahman looks to land a combination. Basaev sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Mikki Basaev has been cut.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rahman. Basaev does a little dance to reset his feet.
Basaev avoids the body shot from Rahman.
Rahman doesn't manage to clinch there - Basaev circles away.
Rahman fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Rahman throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Rahman throws a series of strikes that have Basaev backpedaling.


Basaev is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Oooooh!!! Rahman has knocked Basaev down with a huge combo! Rahman steps away and waves a wobbly Basaev back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Oh Basaev is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rahman fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Basaev looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Rahman shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Basaev takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Rahman sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Basaev bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Carlos Rahman!
