PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Janulf Kristiansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and PeeJii Penni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, PeeJii Penni!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Penni misses the target.
Penni with a nice cross.
Kristiansen fails with a takedown attempt.
Kristiansen shoots in looking for a takedown. Penni tries to sprawl out of it but Kristiansen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Penni manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Penni misses with a hook
and Kristiansen counters with a nice leg kick.

Penni swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Penni wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kristiansen has Penni pressed against the cage, preventing Penni from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Penni throws a punch but it's blocked by Kristiansen.

Penni stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kristiansen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kristiansen is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Penni is looking to stand up but Kristiansen won't let him.
Penni slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. PeeJii Penni hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Penni lands with a right hand.
Kristiansen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Penni as he jumps to the side.
Nice defenses there by Kristiansen.
Penni fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Penni misses with a two punch combination.
Kristiansen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Penni avoids it really well and circles away.
Penni might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Kristiansen is breathing heavily.
Penni swats away the attempt to clinch by Kristiansen.
No luck for Kristiansen with that takedown attempt.

Kristiansen takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kristiansen slips under a jab from Penni.
Kristiansen takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Penni scores with a hook.
Penni jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Kristiansen on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
PeeJii Penni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kristiansen gets a double leg takedown into Penni's guard.
Kristiansen wants to get up but he can't break Penni's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Penni throws out a loose jab but Kristiansen uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kristiansen lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Penni works over Kristiansen's head and body with a nice combination.

Penni swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kristiansen moves in looking to clinch but Penni pushes him off.

Kristiansen is trying hard to land a takedown here. Penni sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kristiansen gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Kristiansen uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Penni.
PeeJii Penni seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Kristiansen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Penni tries to avoid it but Kristiansen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Penni to the ground. Penni escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Penni throws a hook to the side of Kristiansen's head but Kristiansen sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Penni throws a looping overhand right but Kristiansen ducks down to avoid it.

Kristiansen has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kristiansen there as he acknowledges the shot.
Penni misses the jab.

Penni scores with a one two! Kristiansen had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Oh Kristiansen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Penni lands with a right and another and another! Kristiansen is in big trouble! Penni lands again and this time it's lights out for Kristiansen! A quality knockout there for Penni.
