The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cocono punishes Maylan's body with a nice straight punch.
Tuno Cocono seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maylan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Cocono closes the distance but Maylan moves to the side

and Maylan counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Cocono flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Cocono is trying to get back to full guard.
Cocono really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maylan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Maylan seems to be working for a kimura but Cocono defends the submission attempt.
Cocono wants to get back to full guard but Maylan has passed into side control.
Maylan lands a nice forearm strike.
