And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pamz Shakes!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Fedor Mirinova and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shakes works over Held's head and body with a nice combination.
Held defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shakes.
Held blocks a head kick by Shakes.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shakes is defended easily by Held.
Nice takedown defense from Shakes. No joy for Held on that attempt.
Held slips a jab and a cross from Shakes.

Shakes rushes Held and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Shakes has Held pushed against the cage.
Shakes fails to pull guard.

Shakes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Held takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Held shoots in for a double leg but Shakes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pamz Shakes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shakes shoots in and drives through. Held sprawls well.
Shakes shoots in but no luck this time.
Shakes looks gassed!
Shakes tries to clinch there but Held circles away.
No luck for Held with that takedown attempt.

Held closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Held advances nicely into full mount.
Held looking to control but Shakes is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Held gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Held keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Held throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That was a close round but I would say that Marcin Held will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Held has hold of Shakes's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Shakes manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

What can Shakes do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

That's time! Held's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Held throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Shakes was covering up waiting for the punch and Held finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Held might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Held stops Shakes from standing up.
