Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lou Haggen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bob Sapp!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sapp throws a head kick but Haggen moves out of range.
Sapp wants to clinch but Haggen slips to the side

and Haggen counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sapp's guard now.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Sapp preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Haggen throws an elbow that misses. Sapp uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Haggen's guard. Nice move by Sapp!
Haggen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sapp manages to get himself to full guard.
Sapp wants to sweep here but Haggen controlling him for the moment.
Haggen is looking to work some ground and pound but Sapp has wrist control.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Bob Sapp hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Sapp leaves Haggen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Haggen feints a jab promting Sapp to slip. Haggen then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sapp slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


It looks like Bob Sapp has been cut.
Lou Haggen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Haggen shoots in for a takedown but Sapp shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Haggen shoots in looking for a takedown. Sapp tries to sprawl out of it but Haggen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sapp manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sapp throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Haggen's waist but Haggen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sapp off to one side.
Sapp changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Haggen tries to avoid it but Sapp manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Haggen to the ground. Haggen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Haggen drops back looking for a leg! Sapp is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sapp manages to kick Haggen off! Haggen jumps back into Sapp's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Sapp has momentary wrist control but Haggen slips an elbow through the middle.

Sapp really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Haggen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Haggen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sapp knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sapp tries to close the distance and clinch up but Haggen swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Haggen closes the distance and clinches up with Sapp, looking for a takedown. Haggen pushes Sapp against the cage but Sapp circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sapp tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Haggen was well out of range. Poor timing from Sapp.
Sapp shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Haggen but Haggen pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Haggen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Haggen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Haggen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sapp has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Haggen has managed to get both his arms back between Sapp's legs - danger averted.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lou Haggen will probably get the nod.
