PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Travis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Stump (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Stump's choice of entrance music: Drop the Bombshell. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Travis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jordan Stump!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Travis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Travis dives in and grabs Stump's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stump pushes down on Travis's head and hops out.
Travis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Stump manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Travis lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Stump misses with an uppercut.
Travis throws a right and a left that both miss.
Stump dodges the punch combination from Travis.
Travis throws a half hearted mid kick.
Travis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stump but Stump pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Travis misses with a kick to the body.
A punch combination from Travis misses.
Travis fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Travis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Travis is trying hard to land a takedown here. Stump sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Stump.

Stump lands a decent elbow from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stump wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Travis, who protects the arm well.
Travis takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Travis is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Travis tries to improve position but can't.

Stump just content to control the position.

Stump decides to stand back up. Stump steps back and let's Travis get back to his feet.
Travis is breathing heavily.

Stump closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stump lands in his opponent's guard.
Stump looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Travis can't keep his opponent in guard - Stump advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Travis on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
It looks like Stump might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Travis is defending against the submission attempts here by Stump.
Stump is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Travis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Travis dives in and grabs Stump's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stump pushes down on Travis's head and hops out.

Stump shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Travis napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Travis takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Stump's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Travis tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Travis seems a little lost for a moment, as Stump dominates the positioning.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jordan Stump was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Stump looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Travis is defended easily by Stump.
Stump looks for the body kick but Travis saw that one coming.
Travis throws a nice looking combination but Stump bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Travis shoots in and drives through. Stump sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Travis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Travis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stump as he jumps to the side.

Stump scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Travis takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Stump lands a few punches from side control.
Travis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stump on the ground.

Stump stands up and beckons Travis to his feet.
Frank Travis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Travis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Travis gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stump gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stump just misses with a punch to the body.

Stump shoots in and bounces Travis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jordan Stump showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Stump stuffs the takedown attempt from Travis. Travis gets slowly back to his feet.
Frank Travis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice sprawl there from Stump as Travis shoots in.
Travis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Stump moves away.

Stump moves into the clinch successfully.
Stump tries for a takedown but Travis manages to get underhooks.
Travis drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Stump gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Stump keeps control of Travis as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Stump just leaning against Travis, taking a breather.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Travis is trying to drag Stump to the mat but Stump just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Stump's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Stump slips under a jab.
Stump fails to land the takedown.

Travis tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stump postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Stump slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Stump advances to half guard.
Travis has a hand on Stump's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Stump takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Travis takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Stump takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Stump with a couple of short strikes.
Stump lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Stump takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jordan Stump is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
