The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sakuraba tries a head kick but it misses.
Sanchez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sakuraba.
Sakuraba throws a sloppy head kick and Sanchez moves out of range easily.

Sakuraba gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Sanchez wants to control from the top but Sakuraba keeps moving.
Sanchez throws a big elbow that misses.

Sanchez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Sakuraba wants to hit a switch here but Sanchez passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Sakuraba there!
Sakuraba is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Sanchez looking to control but Sakuraba is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Sanchez connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Sakuraba is in all sorts of trouble here.
Sakuraba tries to hold on but Sanchez postures up.
Sakuraba keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Sakuraba is working hard here to advance position.
Sanchez with shots to the head and body - Sakuraba looks very uncomfortable down there.
Sanchez loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Sakuraba scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Sanchez land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Sanchez stands and salutes the crowd.
