Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Thorstein Horgmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Badong Vargas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Badong Vargas!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vargas tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Horgmo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Horgmo lands with a thumping leg kick.
Horgmo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Vargas moves into range and clinches up with Horgmo.
Vargas has picked Horgmo up - he's going for a ride! Vargas dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Horgmo is looking to control Vargas's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Horgmo avoid being mounted?
It looks like Vargas is going to stand back up.
Horgmo tries to get to full guard but Vargas has control of the leg.
Vargas wants to get back to his feet.

Vargas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Horgmo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Horgmo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vargas keeps working.
Horgmo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Vargas has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Horgmo but great work by Vargas.
Horgmo throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A lull in the action here as Vargas stalls from top position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Horgmo tries to strike from the bottom but misses.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Horgmo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Vargas is trying to defend but Horgmo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Vargas seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horgmo stuffs the takedown attempt from Vargas. Vargas gets slowly back to his feet.
Vargas shoots in looking for a takedown. Horgmo tries to sprawl out of it but Vargas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Horgmo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Vargas throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Horgmo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Vargas lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Vargas.

Horgmo rushes Vargas and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Oh Horgmo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Horgmo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Horgmo showed some decent athleticism there.
Thorstein Horgmo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Horgmo wants to work for an arm triangle but Vargas is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Vargas throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Horgmo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Horgmo counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Horgmo.
Vargas wants to get back to striking at distance but Horgmo won't allow it.
Vargas throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Horgmo is in close to Vargas's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Horgmo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Horgmo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Vargas has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Horgmo wants to control from the top but Vargas keeps moving.

Thorstein Horgmo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
