Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lyle Chipperson!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chipperson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Smith.

Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Chipperson wants to control but Smith is keeping busy.

Smith is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Chipperson wants to get back to his feet.

Chipperson looking for submissions off his back.

Chipperson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Smith is working away from the top position though.

Smith shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Chipperson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Chipperson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Smith to score with a decent uppercut.

Smith forces Chipperson back against the cage and clinches.
Chipperson tries to pull guard but Smith forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
John Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lyle Chipperson.
Chipperson goes for a takedown attempt but Smith pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Chipperson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Smith kicks off Chipperson and gets to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Chipperson enables Smith to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Chipperson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith tries to stand but Chipperson is controlling from the bottom.

Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chipperson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Chipperson's legs - danger averted.

Smith gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Chipperson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Smith after a bit of a struggle.

Smith manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Smith is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Chipperson is aware though and is defending well.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Chipperson from controlling successfully.
Chipperson throws an elbow that misses. Smith uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Chipperson's guard. Nice move by Smith!

Chipperson is working an open guard so Smith takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.
Chipperson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Smith closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Chipperson quickly recovers to half guard.
Chipperson tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Smith is working for a kimura but Chipperson is defending it quite comfortably.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Smith is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Chipperson has managed to free his arm - good work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Chipperson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Smith pulls his head out easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Smith has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Chipperson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Smith is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Chipperson is defending well though. Smith let's go of the attempt for now.

Chipperson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smith sprawls well. Smith wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Chipperson gets slowly back to his feet.
John Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lyle Chipperson.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

John Smith showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Smith has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
