Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randy McGruger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Munoz ! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A right-left combo lands from Munoz . Munoz shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. A combination from Munoz does no damage. Munoz looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Munoz shoots in and drives through. McGruger sprawls well. Randy McGruger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Munoz . Munoz fails with a takedown attempt. McGruger tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Munoz swivels and escapes. Munoz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McGruger. McGruger closes this distance looking for a takedown but Munoz circles away. McGruger tries to clinch and Munoz counters with a good low kick that McGruger was not able to check. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McGruger connects with a looping right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGruger fails with a takedown attempt from distance. McGruger is breathing heavily. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Munoz . McGruger shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than McGruger was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Munoz blocking the ground and pound. Munoz sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Munoz is concentrating on defense, preventing McGruger from advancing position. Munoz trying to control but McGruger postures up.
Munoz wants to sweep but McGruger has passed to side control! McGruger sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Munoz is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Munoz can't do much from the bottom here. Munoz tries to escape but McGruger is in control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McGruger has hold of Munoz 's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Munoz tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - McGruger cranks the arm and Munoz screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Munoz , who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
