Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Royce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacques Mehoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Somewhere I Belong - Linkin Park. Royce Gracie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Royce Gracie!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacques Mehoff!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie throws a head kick but Mehoff moves out of range.
Gracie looks for a takedown but Mehoff sprawls well.
Gracie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mehoff counters with a head kick. That will keep Gracie thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Nice takedown defense from Mehoff. No joy for Gracie on that attempt.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Mehoff shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Gracie on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Mehoff throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Gracie shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mehoff but Mehoff pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Horrible takedown by Gracie or perhaps it was just good defense by Mehoff which made him look bad.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Jacques Mehoff showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Gracie closes the distance and clinches up with Mehoff, looking for a takedown. Gracie pushes Mehoff against the cage but Mehoff circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mehoff connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Gracie takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Gracie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mehoff is fending him off so far but Gracie persists. Nope, Mehoff circles away and we're back to standing.

Mehoff tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gracie swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Mehoff throws an overhand right that lands on Gracie's shoulder, as Gracie tries to avoid the shot.

Mehoff stuffs the takedown attempt from Gracie. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet.

Gracie changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mehoff looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Mehoff is pushing Gracie's head away, looking to escape. Gracie manages to hold on to the position though.

Gracie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mehoff knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Gracie is trying to get an arm triangle but Mehoff is defending well.

Mehoff is not content to let Gracie control the position.
Mehoff tries to escape but Gracie is in control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mehoff is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gracie prevents Mehoff from escaping the position.

Gracie wants to control but Mehoff is keeping him busy.
Gracie is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Mehoff will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Mehoff is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Gracie working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Gracie has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Mehoff is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gracie yanks on the arm and Mehoff is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gracie.
