The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meesters fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Shmuck tries to clinch but Meesters is having none of it.
Meesters gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Shmuck holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Shmuck working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Shmuck tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Meesters has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Shmuck is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Buck Shmuck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bart Meesters.

Shmuck has Meesters pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Shmuck pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Meesters tumbling to the mat - Shmuck dives into Meesters's guard.
Shmuck won't allow Meesters to sweep him here.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Shmuck connects with a nice short shot to Meesters's temple.

Shmuck is taking a breather. Meesters says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Shmuck in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Meesters tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Shmuck!
