The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Atwood.
Atwood sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Rogers is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Rogers stops Atwood from passing to mount.

Atwood stands up.

Rogers throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Atwood tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rogers is in Atwood's guard.
Atwood has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rogers trying to control but Atwood is working from the bottom.

Rogers drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Atwood dives on top into guard.
Atwood works over Rogers with some ground and pound from guard.

Rogers wants to sweep here but Atwood controlling him for the moment.

Rogers is looking for a triangle but Atwood pushes his legs off easily.
Atwood slips nicely into half guard.
Atwood works his foot free and advances to mount.

A nice elbow there by Atwood.
Atwood tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Rogers is trying desperately to improve position.
Rogers sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Rogers is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Atwood throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Rogers to regain full guard.

Atwood gets to his feet. Rogers looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Atwood misses with a takedown attempt - Rogers sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Atwood keeps the fight on the outside.
Rogers fails with the takedown

and Atwood counters with a single leg into guard. Rogers didn't expect that.
Rogers looks gassed!
Atwood has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rogers is proving hard to escape from.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rogers looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Atwood is defending well. Rogers quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Atwood has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Rogers celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
