Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Niklas Larssen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sergei Mikhaylov!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Larssen does no damage.
Mikhaylov throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Larssen has managed to clinch.
Larssen lands a body punch in the clinch.
Larssen lands an elbow that stopped Mikhaylov in his tracks for a moment.
Larssen lands with a right to the head.

Mikhaylov manages to break the clinch.
Mikhaylov lands a front kick.
Larssen is breathing heavily.
Mikhaylov tries to clinch up but Larssen circles away and keeps his distance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Larssen stuffs the takedown attempt from Mikhaylov. Mikhaylov gets slowly back to his feet.

Larssen closes the distance and clinches.
Mikhaylov is looking to break free of the clinch but Larssen has double underhooks.
Mikhaylov is trying to maintain a safe position but Larssen gets an underhook and turns Mikhaylov into the cage.
Mikhaylov tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Larssen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mikhaylov is working for takedown but Larssen is calmly controlling the position for now.

Larssen manages to break the clinch.

Larssen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Mikhaylov shoots in looking for a takedown. Larssen tries to sprawl out of it but Mikhaylov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Larssen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Niklas Larssen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sergei Mikhaylov.
Larssen throws a push kick but Mikhaylov slaps the foot to one side.

and Larssen counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Larssen is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Mikhaylov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Larssen as he avoids it easily.

Larssen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mikhaylov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Larssen but Larssen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mikhaylov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Larssen paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Larssen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mikhaylov throws a head kick that misses.
Mikhaylov shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Larssen defends it nicely.

Larssen connects with a nasty looking knee right to Mikhaylov's face.
The referee calls for Larssen to work.

Mikhaylov wants to stall.

Larssen is trying to trip Mikhaylov. He has hold of a leg but Mikhaylov is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Larssen persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Larssen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Larssen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Larssen wants it to stay on the feet.

Larssen has closed the distance and engaged Mikhaylov in a clinch.
Larssen content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Mikhaylov gets control of Larssen's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mikhaylov will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Larssen closes the distance and pushes Mikhaylov back into the cage.

Larssen ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Larssen no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Larssen wants to sweep but no luck.
Mikhaylov wants to get up but he can't break Larssen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Larssen kicks Mikhaylov off and gets to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Larssen cracks the inside of Mikhaylov's front leg.

Larssen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Mikhaylov tries for a takedown but Larssen manages to get underhooks.

Larssen tightens his grip and picks Mikhaylov up, before dumping him to the ground. Mikhaylov manages to land in guard.

Larssen is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Larssen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Larssen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mikhaylov was covering up waiting for the punch and Larssen finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mikhaylov wants to control the position but Larssen says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Mikhaylov tries to roll over but Larssen keeps him under control.

Larssen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mikhaylov is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Larssen jumps into side control!

Larssen has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mikhaylov gets tackled into the cage by Larssen. Larssen maintains the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Larssen decides to pull guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Larssen dives in and scores a takedown into Mikhaylov's guard.
Mikhaylov is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Larssen is working Mikhaylov over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Mikhaylov jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Larssen walks away with a smile on his face. Mikhaylov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Larssen gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mikhaylov crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Larssen - the referee stops the clock and Mikhaylov gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Larssen. Mikhaylov manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mikhaylov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Larssen shoots in looking for a takedown but Mikhaylov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Larssen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Larssen misses with a kick to the body
and Mikhaylov counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Mikhaylov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Larssen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mikhaylov somewhat.
Niklas Larssen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sergei Mikhaylov.

and Larssen counters with a nice low kick that buckles Mikhaylov's knee momentarily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mikhaylov.

Larssen tries to free his leg and advance position but Mikhaylov is retaining full guard.

Larssen gets to his feet. Mikhaylov looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Larssen is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Mikhaylov looking to sit in guard and control but Larssen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Niklas Larssen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Larssen gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Larssen misses with a few strikes there.
Mikhaylov throws a nice inside leg kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Larssen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mikhaylov can do to turn this around?

Sergei Mikhaylov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Niklas Larssen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Mikhaylov isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Larssen stacks Mikhaylov on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Larssen!

And that's the end of the fight!
Niklas Larssen showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Larssen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
