Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chen Sun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Niklas Larssen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chen Sun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Niklas Larssen!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sun misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Larssen.
Sun looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sun shoots in and drives through. Larssen sprawls well.
Larssen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sun.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chen Sun. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Larssen instigates a clinch.

Larssen gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Larssen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sun sees it coming and defends easily.
Larssen missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Larssen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Larssen postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Sun to stand up.

Larssen clinches with his opponent.
Sun tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Larssen avoids it.
Larssen lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Larssen stalling against the cage.
Sun wants to stall.
Larssen pushes Sun back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Sun wants to get back to striking at distance but Larssen won't allow it.
Knees in the clinch landing for Larssen.

Larssen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Larssen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Larssen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Larssen closes the distance and clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sun with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Larssen lands with a right to the head.

Larssen manages to pull guard.
Larssen keeping moving, preventing Sun from controlling successfully.
Larssen throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sun won't allow Larssen to sweep him here.
Sun trying to control the position from guard on top but Larssen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Sun with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Sun with a flurry of punches that miss.

Larssen has his foot on Sun's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sun works his way back into a safe position though.
Larssen looks gassed!

Sun got a little sloppy there for a moment and Larssen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sun has managed to get both his arms back between Larssen's legs - danger averted.
Larssen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sun. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sun wants to control from the top but Larssen keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Chen Sun just wasn't active enough.
Sun throws a head kick but Larssen moves out of range.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Larssen thows a body shot but no joy.

Larssen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Sun looking for a sweep. Not yet Sun, not yet.

Sun just misses with a punch to the body.
Larssen leaves Sun with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Larssen throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Sun's head.
Larssen misses with a few strikes there.
Sun blocks a low kick nicely.
Niklas Larssen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Larssen fails with a takedown attempt.
Sun fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Larssen lands a leg kick that knocks Sun off balance momentarily.
Larssen throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Larssen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Larssen lands in his opponent's guard.
Larssen is breathing heavily.

Larssen preventing the sweep.

Sun working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Larssen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Larssen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Sun trying to keep a closed guard but Larssen is proving a slippery customer.

Larssen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sun is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Larssen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Larssen throws a right hand that Sun ducks under and follows up with a left that Sun also avoids with ease.
Larssen just misses with a punch to the body.
Sun tries to close the distance and clinch up but Larssen swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Larssen scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Sun tries to sprawl but Larssen drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Larssen tries to stand but can't do so whilst Sun controls his leg.

Larssen is thwarting Sun's attempts to control the position.

Larssen is working for a submission of some sort.
Larssen wants to stand up but Sun is controlling the position.
Sun gets full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Sun looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Larssen trying to control but Sun is working from the bottom.
Larssen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sun pulls Larssen in close to prevent any damage.
Larssen tries to free his leg and advance position but Sun is retaining full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sun has a closed guard, preventing Larssen from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Niklas Larssen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Sun looks for a takedown but Larssen sprawls well.
Larssen is looking to chop away at Sun's legs.
Sun fails with the takedown
and Larssen counters with a head kick. That will keep Sun thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Sun fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Larssen avoids it really well and circles away.

Sun misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Larssen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sun as he avoids it easily.
Larssen fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Sun has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sun wants to clinch but Larssen slips to the side
and Larssen counters with a nice kick to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sun takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Larssen bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Sun fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Larssen throws a low kick but it's checked well by Sun.
Larssen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sun is fending him off so far but Larssen persists. Nope, Sun circles away and we're back to standing.
Sun moves in looking to clinch but Larssen pushes him off.
Sun throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Sun chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Larssen can pounce on him.
Larssen stuffs the takedown.
Sun looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sun throws a combination. Larssen tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Larssen scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Sun is trying to improve his position.

Larssen tries for a kimura but Sun is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Larssen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sun, who protects the arm well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sun regains half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sun has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Larssen is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Larssen content to control rather than advance.

Larssen is working for a submission of some sort.
Sun trying to control from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sun flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Sun manages to get to full guard.
Sun avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Sun controlling Larssen's posture.
Sun looking to hit a scissor sweep but Larssen is one step ahead there.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Niklas Larssen.
Well Larssen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Niklas Larssen thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
