And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Root wants to clinch.

Root gets in close and instigates a clinch.

McGorian pulls guard.
Root connects with a couple of short punches.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Root's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
McGorian keeping full guard, as Root tries to pass.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Root trying to control the position from guard on top but McGorian is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Root postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Root advances position into side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McGorian taking a bit of punishment here - Root scoring with strikes.
McGorian takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
McGorian is not content to let Root control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The ground and pound from Root seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Root working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Root is trying to get an arm triangle but McGorian is defending well.
Root working the body and head with strikes.
Root wants to lay and pray for a moment but McGorian keeps working.
Check out the look on Root's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Root goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, McGorian has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Root but great work by McGorian.
Root manages to work his way to half guard, despite McGorian's best efforts.

McGorian is posturing up here but Root has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! McGorian tries to roll out but it's too tight and McGorian has to tap! Slick submission there by Root!
