Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Algropalla Pais (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Pyron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Algropalla Pais has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Algropalla Pais!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michael Pyron!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pyron blocks a head kick by Pais.

Pais shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pyron manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Pyron looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pais is one step ahead there.
Pyron keeping full guard, as Pais tries to pass.
Pyron trying to control the position here.
Pyron looking for a sweep. Not yet Pyron, not yet.
Pyron controls Pais momentarily but Pais frees himself.

Pyron looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Pais passes into half guard.
Pais sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Pyron defending well though.
Pyron is pressing down on Pais's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Pais wants to control from the top but Pyron keeps moving.
Pais won't allow Pyron to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pyron pulls Pais in to control the position.
Pais wants to pass the guard but Pyron is keeping the position.

Pais is fighting to break Pyron's control of his arms but Pyron is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Pyron tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Algropalla Pais has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Pyron doesn't manage to clinch there - Pais circles away.
Pyron avoids the head kick by Pais.
Pyron avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

so Pyron counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pyron is pushing down on Pais's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pais is fighting to maintain full guard but Pyron has managed to sneak the leg through.
Still in half guard, Pyron seems content to control.
Pais wants to get back to his feet.

Well, if Pyron is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Pyron is working for a submission of some sort.
Pyron frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Pyron prevents Pais from getting the reversal.
Pais is breathing heavily.
Pyron trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Pyron takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pais is looking to get to half guard.
Pyron sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Pais tries to hold on but Pyron postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pyron tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Pais blocks a jab.
Pais misses with a series of wild punches.

Pyron gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Pyron manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pais manages to get himself to full guard.
Pais wants to control but Pyron passes easily into half guard.
Pyron keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Pyron throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Pyron's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Pyron is looking to take a break and control but Pais is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Pyron works his way into side control.
Pyron wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pais keeps working.
Pyron looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Pais is avoiding damage well.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Pais stops Pyron from passing to mount.
Pyron is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Pais will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Pais is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Pyron asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Pyron takes a little break here. Pais wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Michael Pyron has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Pais moves in looking to clinch but Pyron pushes him off.
Pais misses with a hook.
Pyron throws the left hand but Pais avoids the punch easily.
A head kick misses from Pais.

Pais gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Pais wants to sweep here but Pyron controlling him for the moment.

Pais can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pyron controls the pace.
Pyron passes Pais's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Pyron missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Pyron is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Pyron showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Pais keeps the fight on the outside.

Pyron closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pais quickly recovers to half guard.
Pais tries to get to full guard but Pyron has control of the leg.
Pyron tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pais knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Pyron sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Pais defending well though.
Pyron is stalling here. Pais is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Pyron seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Pais has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Pais looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Pyron won't allow Pais to pass to mount.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Pyron gets full guard.
Pyron not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pyron trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Pyron is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Pais tries to free his leg and advance position but Pyron is retaining full guard.
Pyron has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Pyron manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pais manages to get himself to full guard.

Pais keeping moving, preventing Pyron from controlling successfully.
Pyron works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Pyron content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Pyron not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Pyron thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pais's head.
Pyron stalling.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Michael Pyron hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Pais goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Pyron shoots in and bounces Pais off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Pyron stays in close to Pais's body and controls the position.

Pyron trying to control the position from guard on top but Pais is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pyron seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Algropalla Pais has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Pyron trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Michael Pyron is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pyron postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Pyron stays in close to Pais's body and controls the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Michael Pyron was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Pais shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Pais was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Michael Pyron comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Pyron winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
