The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a series of wild punches.
Smith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fei Chi Song avoids it really well and circles away.
Fei Chi Song misses with a jab, cross combination.
Smith displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fei Chi Song.
Fei Chi Song scores with a three punch combo!
Smith slaps away a takedown attempt from Fei Chi Song, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Fei Chi Song, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Fei Chi Song against the ropes but Fei Chi Song circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Smith shoots for a takedown but Fei Chi Song saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Zhou Fei Chi Song has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brandon Smith.
Fei Chi Song tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fei Chi Song somewhat.

Smith throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fei Chi Song was covering up waiting for the punch and Smith finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Smith stands and steps away. Fei Chi Song gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Fei Chi Song stuffs the takedown attempt from Smith. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Smith doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Fei Chi Song.

Fei Chi Song fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Smith to the ground. Fei Chi Song is now in Smith's guard.
Fei Chi Song throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smith works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Fei Chi Song passes Smith's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Smith is pressing down on Fei Chi Song's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Smith wants to sweep but no luck.

Fei Chi Song drops back, looking for a kneebar! Smith looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Smith looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Smith!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Smith wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fei Chi Song, who protects the arm well.
Fei Chi Song tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Smith presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fei Chi Song holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Smith tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Zhou Fei Chi Song will probably get the nod.

Smith drops his hands momentarily and Fei Chi Song takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Fei Chi Song throws a hook to the side of Smith's head but Smith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Smith closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Fei Chi Song is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Smith thows a huge punch but Fei Chi Song dodges it nicely.

Smith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Smith maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Fei Chi Song could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Smith has cracked it and Fei Chi Song is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Smith!
