Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
YJ shoots in for a double leg but Whitaker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
YJ tries to score a power double leg takedown but Whitaker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten YJ somewhat.
Nice takedown defense from Whitaker. No joy for YJ on that attempt.

Whitaker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around YJ's waist but YJ gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Whitaker off to one side.

YJ has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Whitaker clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

YJ is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

YJ cracks Whitaker with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Whitaker is defended easily by YJ.
YJ tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Whitaker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

YJ is staying active underneath Whitaker, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Whitaker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

YJ is desperately trying to improve his position but Whitaker has a good base and remains in mount.

Whitaker is working for a guillotine from mount but YJ frees his head quite easily.

YJ wants to hold on but Whitaker pushes him away.

YJ manages to reverse the position and now he's in Whitaker's guard. Nice work there by YJ.

Whitaker wants to sweep here but YJ controlling him for the moment.
John YJ has got the better of the ground game so far.
YJ wanted to stand there but Whitaker had control of the position.
Whitaker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for YJ on the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I would just about give that final round to John YJ.
