Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chris Bias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donavan Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Bias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Donavan Masters!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bias scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Bias looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Masters tries to get to full guard but Bias has control of the leg.
Masters is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Masters gets full guard.

Masters is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Bias is looking for a sweep. Masters is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bias is trying to maintain the position but Masters is very close to passing his half guard.

Masters seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bias does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Masters gets a clinch.

Masters successfully pulls guard.

Bias throws a strike but Masters rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Bias looking for a sweep. Not yet Bias, not yet.

Masters thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Masters wants to control from the top but Bias keeps moving.
Bias is trying to control the position but Masters postures up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Masters tries to stand but Bias is controlling from the bottom.
Masters looks gassed!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Bias is trying to hold Masters in close to prevent damage but Masters has managed to pass into half guard.

Masters wants to work for an arm triangle but Bias is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bias looks for a takedown but Masters sprawls well.

Bias shoots in and gets a takedown into Masters's guard.

Chris Bias overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Masters has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bias is working away from the top position though.

Bias seems to be working for a kimura but Masters defends the submission attempt.

Bias drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bias jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Masters bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bias's guard.
Bias utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Masters tries to free his leg and advance position but Bias is retaining full guard.

Masters is breathing heavily.
Bias pulls Masters in close to his closed guard and prevents Masters from doing any damage or advancing position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bias is on top in guard.

Bias thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bias missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Bias working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Masters's head.
Bias passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Bias thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Masters is trying to control Bias's posture but Bias avoids it.

Bias lands a nice forearm strike.
Bias throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Masters is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Bias off and has taken his back!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Masters misses with punches from the back.
Masters is hanging on to Bias's back as he tries to escape.
Masters is not going to allow Bias to sit and survive in this position.
Bias turns into Masters and is now in his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Bias dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Masters is looking to clinch.
Masters tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bias sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Masters somewhat.
Masters tries to close the distance and clinch but Bias swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Masters is defended easily by Bias.
Masters shoots in looking for a takedown. Bias tries to sprawl out of it but Masters keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bias manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Chris Bias has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donavan Masters.
Masters looks to land a left hand but Bias moved out of range nicely.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Masters.
Masters takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Masters connects with a leg kick. Bias looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Bias throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Masters's waist but Masters gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bias off to one side.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Masters.

Bias has managed to clinch.
Masters wants to get back to striking at distance but Bias won't allow it.
Bias goes for a takedown attempt but Masters pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Masters dives in and grabs Bias's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bias pushes down on Masters's head and hops out.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Bias.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bias is defended easily by Masters.
Bias tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Masters swivels and escapes.
Masters changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bias tries to avoid it but Masters manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bias to the ground. Bias escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bias is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Masters tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bias swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bias tries for a takedown but Masters sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Bias fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Masters avoids it really well and circles away.
Bias shoots for a double leg takedown but Masters sprawls well. He's pushed Bias's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bias will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Donavan Masters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bias shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bias showed some decent athleticism there.

Masters moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Masters tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bias tries to free his leg and advance position but Masters is retaining full guard.

Bias drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bias jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chris Bias.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bias, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
