Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Matt Crosher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luke Woods acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Matt Crosher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Luke Woods!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crosher closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Woods quickly recovers to half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Woods is pressing down on Crosher's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Woods wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Crosher is now in half guard.
Crosher content to control rather than advance.
Crosher knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Woods on the ground.
Woods pushes Crosher off looking to stand but Crosher dives back in and keeps control.
Crosher scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Woods gets back to full guard.

Crosher gets to his feet - Woods follows without any prompting.
Woods throws a shot from downtown. Crosher moves away and avoids it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Woods smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Crosher misses with a takedown attempt - Woods sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Crosher tries to clinch up but Woods circles away and keeps his distance.
Crosher throws a body punch but Woods moves out of range.
Crosher slips a straight right by Woods.

Crosher closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Woods quickly recovers to half guard.
Woods is looking for a sweep. Crosher is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Crosher thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Woods is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Crosher pulls his head out easily.
Woods wants to get back to his feet.
Woods has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Crosher is working away from the top position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Woods is looking for a sweep. Crosher is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Woods is trying to stand back up but Crosher is controlling him
Crosher wants to control but Woods is keeping him busy.

Woods looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Crosher content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Woods scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Crosher manages to mount him!

Woods tries to buck Crosher off but he can't manage it.
Woods regains half guard.

Woods kicks off Crosher and gets to his feet.
Crosher misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Crosher wants to clinch.
Woods throws a sloppy head kick and Crosher moves out of range easily.
Woods fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Crosher shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Woods is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Woods looking for submissions off his back.
Woods tries to kick Crosher off but Crosher keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Matt Crosher will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Crosher checks a leg kick.

Woods drives through and clinches with Crosher against the cage.
Woods wants to break the clinch but can't.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Crosher's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Woods throws a shot from downtown. Crosher moves away and avoids it.
Woods avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Crosher lands with a slapping head kick.

Crosher moves into the clinch successfully.

Crosher jumps guard and drags Woods to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Woods wants to stand but Crosher has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Woods trying to control the position from guard on top but Crosher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Crosher wriggles free and stands up.
Woods misses with a looping left.
Woods misses with a lunging right hand

and Crosher counters with a takedown into side control.

Crosher gets to mount! Woods was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Crosher scoring with strikes but Woods is staying in there.
Woods tries to improve his position but instead Crosher has taken his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Crosher is trying to stick to Woods's back but Woods is turning into Crosher. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Crosher's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Woods.
Crosher seems keen to control Woods's posture.
Crosher keeping moving, preventing Woods from controlling successfully.

Crosher has his foot on Woods's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Woods works his way back into a safe position though.
Crosher controls Woods momentarily but Woods frees himself.
Crosher trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Woods tries to free his leg and advance position but Crosher is retaining full guard.

Crosher is trying to control the position but Woods postures up.

Crosher is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Woods throwing strikes from guard but Crosher blocks nicely.
Woods trying to control but Crosher is working from the bottom.
Woods wants to stand but Crosher is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Crosher is working an open guard so Woods takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Matt Crosher is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Crosher bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Crosher fails with the takedown.
Matt Crosher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Crosher gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Woods throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Woods throws a sloppy head kick and Crosher moves out of range easily.

Crosher rushes Woods and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Woods has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
The referee calls for Crosher to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Crosher dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Crosher moves out of range of the strikes.

Crosher shoots in and bounces Woods off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Woods looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Crosher decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Woods avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Crosher pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Woods misses with a takedown attempt - Crosher sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Woods drives through and clinches with Crosher against the cage.
Crosher lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Crosher breaks from the clinch.
Crosher moves in looking to clinch but Woods pushes him off.
Woods pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Crosher tries to clinch but Woods is having none of it.

Crosher shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Woods manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Woods is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Crosher has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Woods is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Woods throws his legs up looking for a submission but Crosher uses it to pass to side control.
The referee asks Crosher politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Crosher prefers to stall for the moment though.
Woods is looking for a sweep.

Woods sneaks out the side door and pushes Crosher away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Crosher.
Crosher throws a nice outside leg kick.
Woods misses with an uppercut.

Crosher dives in and scores a takedown into Woods's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Woods is looking to stand up but Crosher isn't so interested in that idea.

Woods has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Crosher can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Matt Crosher overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Woods is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Crosher has his hands clasped together but Woods extends an breaks Crosher's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Woods.
