Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Damian Savas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Pogi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Savas's entrance music is Seven Nation Army. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damian Savas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Pogi!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Joseph Jones and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pogi is looking to clinch.
Savas lands a head kick!
Savas fails in his attempt to clinch.
Joe Pogi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Savas clinches up against the cage.
Pogi gets underhooks to prevent Savas's takedown attempt.

Pogi manages to break the clinch.
Pogi wants to clinch but Savas slips to the side
and Savas counters with a head kick. That will keep Pogi thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Pogi darts in trying to clinch
and Savas counters with a low kick, right behind Pogi 's knee.

Pogi clinches.

Pogi drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Savas tries to pull guard but Pogi won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Pogi wants a takedown but no success here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pogi tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Savas dodges an elbow strike from Pogi.
A short right from Pogi.
Savas wants to break free but Pogi has control.
Savas fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Damian Savas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pogi lands an elbow just above Savas 's eye.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Savas.
Pogi drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Savas tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pogi smiles and moves away.

Pogi gets caught flat footed, as Savas shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Savas looking to pass the guard.
Savas wants to control from the top but Pogi keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Savas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pogi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Savas wants to stand but Pogi is controlling his posture from full guard.
Pogi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Savas is controlling him.
Savas throwing strikes from guard but Pogi blocks nicely.
Pogi is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Savas has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pogi is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pogi with a poor takedown

and Savas counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Savas.
Pogi lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Nice body punch from Pogi - that landed with a thud.
Pogi works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Still in the clinch, Pogi scores with a nice short uppercut.
Pogi looks gassed!

Pogi wants to break the clinch but can't.
Pogi is looking to control Savas's arms but Savas gets an underhook and turns him. Now Pogi has his back to the cage.
Savas tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pogi smiles and moves away.
Pogi swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Savas counters with a nice body kick.

Savas has managed to clinch.
Savas tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pogi just stands there and leans against the cage.

Pogi manages to break the clinch.
Pogi swats away the attempt to clinch by Savas.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Savas feints and as Pogi raises his hands in defense, Savas changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Savas is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Pogi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Savas stands and steps away. Pogi gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Pogi throws a head kick that misses

and Savas counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pogi's guard now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Savas preventing the sweep.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pogi kicks Savas off and gets to his feet.
Pogi keeps the fight on the outside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damian Savas dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Pogi seems to be stalking Savas here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Savas drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Joe Pogi!
