Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alexander Hayes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sag Rod!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rod tries to clinch up but Hayes circles away and keeps his distance.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Rod enables Hayes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rod manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Rod has a closed guard, preventing Hayes from standing up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rod can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hayes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rod has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hayes has managed to get both his arms back between Rod's legs - danger averted.
Rod wants to improve his position but instead Hayes has moved into half guard.

Rod is looking to control Hayes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rod avoid being mounted?

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rod wants to get back to full guard but Hayes has passed into side control.

Hayes decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rod to his feet.

Rod looking to score a takedown here. Hayes is defending well but Rod drives through and ends up in Hayes's guard.
Rod looking to sit in guard and control but Hayes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hayes with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hayes wants to pass the guard but Rod is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rod looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Rod looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hayes passes into side control.

Hayes has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Rod is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Hayes yanks on the arm and Rod is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Hayes.
