PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Iam Getcha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trip Kenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Iam Getcha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Trip Kenzie!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Chris Edwards and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Getcha or perhaps it was just good defense by Kenzie which made him look bad.
Kenzie is looking to score with low kicks.
Kenzie fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Getcha shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kenzie as he jumps to the side.
Kenzie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Getcha tries to avoid it but Kenzie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Getcha to the ground. Getcha escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Getcha shoots in looking for a takedown. Kenzie tries to sprawl out of it but Getcha keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kenzie manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Iam Getcha. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kenzie doesn't manage to clinch there - Getcha circles away.
Kenzie dodges the punch combination from Getcha.
Kenzie connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Nice sprawl there from Kenzie as Getcha shoots in.

Kenzie shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Getcha's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kenzie wants to stand but Getcha is controlling his posture from full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Getcha manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Getcha throws the kick towards the body but Kenzie avoids it.
Getcha keeps the fight on the outside.
Iam Getcha seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kenzie just misses with a punch to the body.
Getcha tries to clinch but Kenzie is having none of it.

Kenzie shoots in and bounces Getcha off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kenzie wants to control from the top but Getcha keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Getcha utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Getcha has his foot on Kenzie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kenzie works his way back into a safe position though.
Getcha doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Kenzie trying to control the position from guard on top but Getcha is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kenzie looking to sit in guard and control but Getcha gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kenzie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Getcha throwing strikes but missing.

Kenzie looking for subs off his back but Getcha has passed one foot through into half guard.
Getcha seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Getcha will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kenzie is trying to stand back up but Getcha is controlling him
Kenzie has hold of Getcha's hands but Getcha slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kenzie is trying to control but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Getcha wants to stand up but Kenzie has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Getcha moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Kenzie.
Kenzie controls the position for a moment.
Kenzie can't do much from the bottom here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Getcha has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Kenzie misses with a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trip Kenzie dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kenzie throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Getcha wants to clinch

and Kenzie counters with a nice double leg into side control. Getcha won't be happy with that.

Kenzie decides to stand back up.

Getcha feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Getcha is looking to stand up but Kenzie won't let him.
Kenzie looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Getcha puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kenzie is pressing down on Getcha's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Getcha postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Kenzie kicks Getcha off and gets to his feet.

Kenzie clinches.

Getcha escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Getcha pushes Kenzie up against the cage in a clinch.

Kenzie has Getcha pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Kenzie pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Getcha tumbling to the mat - Kenzie dives into Getcha's guard.

Kenzie wants to stand but Getcha has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Kenzie controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Trip Kenzie was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Getcha shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kenzie is trying to defend but Getcha finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kenzie flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Kenzie is looking to control Getcha's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kenzie avoid being mounted?
Kenzie pushes Getcha off looking to stand but Getcha dives back in and keeps control.

Getcha gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Getcha scores with a jab to the body.
Kenzie wants to clinch.
Getcha throws a push kick but Kenzie slaps the foot to one side.
Getcha moves to clinch but Kenzie breaks away
and Kenzie counters with a two punch combo.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kenzie circles away from the clinch attempt.
Getcha just misses with a punch to the body.
Getcha looks to land a combination. Kenzie sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kenzie is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kenzie breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kenzie tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Getcha paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kenzie closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Getcha wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kenzie drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Getcha drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kenzie pulls his leg out and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trip Kenzie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Kenzie throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
A right-left combo lands from Kenzie.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kenzie clinches up with Getcha and pushes him back against the cage.
Kenzie lands an elbow that stopped Getcha in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Iam Getcha has been cut.

Kenzie escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Kenzie rushes Getcha and presses him up against the cage.

Getcha looks to clinch
enabling Kenzie to counter with a crisp jab.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Getcha checks a leg kick.
Getcha is looking to clinch but Kenzie is avoiding it.

Kenzie rushes Getcha and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Kenzie takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Kenzie manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Kenzie pushes Getcha off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kenzie shoots in and drives through. Getcha sprawls well.
Kenzie lands with an uppercut that bounces Getcha off the cage and back into range.

Kenzie moves into range and clinches up with Getcha.

Kenzie breaks the clinch.
Kenzie fails with an attempt to clinch.
Getcha fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Getcha doesn't manage to clinch there - Kenzie circles away.
Kenzie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Getcha's waist but Getcha gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kenzie off to one side.

Kenzie avoids a punch combination nicely.

Getcha shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kenzie is trying to defend but Getcha finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Getcha wants to stand up but Kenzie has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Kenzie has one foot on Getcha's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kenzie shoots for a takedown but Getcha saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Iam Getcha has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trip Kenzie.
The fight stays on the outside here - Getcha looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Getcha avoids the head kick by Kenzie.
Getcha will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kenzie rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Getcha moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Kenzie connects with a nice looking jab.
Getcha throws a body kick that misses.
Getcha tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Getcha closes the distance looking to clinch

and Kenzie counters with a shoot takedown. Getcha fights it but they end up in guard.

Getcha kicks Kenzie off and gets to his feet.
Kenzie goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Kenzie fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Getcha, pushing him back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kenzie is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Kenzie jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Getcha walks away with a smile on his face. Kenzie gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Getcha shoots in looking for a takedown. Kenzie tries to sprawl out of it but Getcha keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kenzie manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Getcha throws a right hand that Kenzie ducks under and follows up with a left that Kenzie also avoids with ease.

Kenzie rushes Getcha and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Kenzie manages to break the clinch.
Getcha looks to land a left hand but Kenzie moved out of range nicely.

Kenzie shoots in and gets a takedown into Getcha's guard.

Getcha is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Iam Getcha has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Trip Kenzie is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Trip Kenzie has got the better of the ground game so far.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Getcha wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kenzie manages to pass to side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Trip Kenzie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kenzie has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
