PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Dyzer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Ripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dyzer comes into the arena with New Divide blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Ripper's choice of entrance music: The Odorants - This Night. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stephen Dyzer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack Ripper!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ripper throws a sloppy head kick and Dyzer moves out of range easily.
Dyzer takes a swing at Ripper's ribcage but misses.
Dyzer lands with a shot to the body.
Ripper throws a right hand that misses

and Dyzer counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Dyzer advances to half guard.
Dyzer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Dyzer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dyzer wants to pass the guard but Ripper is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ripper blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dyzer.
Dyzer is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Ripper reverses the position - he's now on top in Dyzer's guard.
Dyzer wants to sweep here but Ripper controlling him for the moment.

Dyzer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ripper defends it easily.
Dyzer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ripper is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dyzer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ripper holds on and takes a little breather.

Dyzer seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Dyzer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ripper is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Dyzer drives through with a takedown into Ripper's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Dyzer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ripper doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dyzer.
Ripper regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Dyzer.
Ripper is trying to control the position but Dyzer postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ripper utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ripper misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ripper pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ripper looks to throw the jab but Dyzer is out of range.
Jack Ripper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dyzer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dyzer blocks a head kick by Ripper.
Ripper goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


It looks like Stephen Dyzer has been cut.
Ripper tries a head kick but it misses.
Dyzer fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ripper manages to avoid it.

Dyzer looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ripper is fending him off so far but Dyzer persists. Nope, Ripper circles away and we're back to standing.

Dyzer connects with a right hand. Ripper shakes it off.
Jack Ripper seems to be getting the better of the standup.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dyzer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Ripper takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Ripper is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Dyzer unloads with some shots from mount but Ripper bucks and avoids them well.
Dyzer lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Ripper wants to control but Dyzer is having none of it.

Dyzer looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Dyzer cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Ripper lands a big head kick that sends Dyzer tumbling to the mat! Ripper takes a step backwards and waves Dyzer back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Dyzer is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ripper lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Dyzer up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Ripper from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Dyzer's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jack Ripper!
