Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gordon Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Eko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 14 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gordon Freeman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mr Eko!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freeman avoids a punch combination nicely.
Eko misses with a double jab

and Freeman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Freeman controlling from the top position.
Eko keeping moving, preventing Freeman from controlling successfully.

Freeman drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Eko dives on top into guard.

Freeman has control of Eko's left arm, preventing Eko from doing any damage.
Eko wants to control from the top but Freeman keeps moving.

Eko got a little sloppy there for a moment and Freeman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Eko has managed to get both his arms back between Freeman's legs - danger averted.
Freeman seems keen to control Eko's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Freeman shoots in and drives through. Eko sprawls well.
Eko swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Freeman counters with a single leg into guard. Eko didn't expect that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Gordon Freeman wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Freeman is defended easily by Eko.
Some wild striking there from Eko.
Eko swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Freeman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Freeman looking to sit in guard and control but Eko gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Eko looks gassed!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Eko drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Freeman dives on top into guard.

Freeman works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Freeman wants to control but Eko is keeping him busy.
Freeman stalling away here and it's allowed Eko to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eko scores with a one two! Freeman had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Eko falls off balance throwing a combination

so Freeman counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Freeman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Eko is breathing heavily.
Freeman trying to control the position from guard on top but Eko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gordon Freeman.
Eko throws a right and a left that Freeman avoids nicely.
Eko misses with a double jab.
Freeman tries for a takedown but Eko sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Eko lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Freeman circles away quickly and effectively.
Freeman fails with a takedown attempt.
Eko throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Eko fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Freeman on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Freeman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Eko but Eko pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gordon Freeman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Freeman.
Eko tries to bum rush Freeman with a series of wild strikes but Freeman uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Freeman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Eko won't be happy with that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Eko is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Freeman wants to control for a moment but Eko uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Freeman slows the pace down in half guard.

Freeman wants to work for an arm triangle but Eko is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Eko is refusing to be controlled, as Freeman sits in half guard.
Freeman keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Eko looks like he's trying to stand up.

Eko throws a hook but Freeman avoids it easily.
Eko tries a head kick but it misses.
Eko throws a right and a left that both miss.
Freeman misses with a takedown attempt - Eko sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Freeman pulls Eko in close to his closed guard and prevents Eko from doing any damage or advancing position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Freeman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
