Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Do (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniel Do has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniel Do!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcus Silva!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Do will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Do will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Do moves out of range of the strikes.
Do lands a nice hook to Silva's body. Silva takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Marcus Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Do fails with a takedown attempt.

Silva has managed to clinch.
Do blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Silva throws a head punch that misses.
Silva looking to slow down the pace here.

Do jumps into guard, dragging Silva to the mat.
Do controls Silva momentarily but Silva frees himself.

Do has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.
Do manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Silva manages to get himself to full guard.

Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Marcus Silva hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Silva throws a lazy right hand but Do sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Silva feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Dos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Silva jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Silva looks to score with a jab to the body but Do is just out of range.
Silva lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Do at a distance.

Silva throws a hook but Do blocks it.
Do fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Silva misses with a straight right.

Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Do will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Do has Silva pulled in close to control his posture.
Do looking for a sweep. Not yet Do, not yet.

Silva avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Do is pulling down on Silva's head to control his posture.

Silva controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Silva wants to control from the top but Do keeps moving.

Silva looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Silva pushes off an throws an elbow but Do leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Do blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Silva tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Do avoids it.

Do breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice straight punches there by Silva. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Silva.

Silva clinches up with Do and pushes him back against the cage.

Do has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Silva uses from the top position.
Silva is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Do is controlling Silva's posture.
Do has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Do ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Do no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Silva lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Do struggling a bit here.
Do avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Silva.
Do tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Silva wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Do manages to work his way to half guard, despite Silva's best efforts.
Silva is nestled in close to Do, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Do moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Do is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Silva trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Do working for submissions but it's allowed Silva to get to half guard.
Silva is looking to take a break and control but Do is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Silva thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Do's head.
Do is pressing down on Silva's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Marcus Silva.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Do shoots in looking for a takedown. Silva tries to sprawl out of it but Do keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Silva pushes Do up against the cage in a clinch.
Do wants to get back to striking at distance but Silva won't allow it.
The referee is keeping an eye on Silva - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Silva misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Do.

Do pulls Silva into guard.
Marcus Silva has got the better of the ground game so far.

Do looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Do manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Do is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Silva can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Do landing punches.
Do throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Do controlling his opponent.
Silva is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Do has hold of Silva's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Silva manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Do goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Silva is on top in guard.

Silva is posturing up here but Do has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Silva tries to roll out but it's too tight and Silva has to tap! Slick submission there by Do!
