Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonny Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rod Rico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roberts comes to the cage accompanied by Killing In The Name Of - By Rage Against The Machine. Rico is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in the jar. Rod Rico has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jonny Roberts's chin.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rico misses with a series of wild punches.
Rico dodges the punch combination from Roberts.
Roberts fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rico avoids it really well and circles away.
Rico throws a front kick aimed at Roberts's knee but Roberts avoids it well.
Roberts throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rico tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Roberts is in Rico's guard.
Rico is controlling Roberts's posture.
Roberts tries to free his leg and advance position but Rico is retaining full guard.

Roberts postures up and lands a big shot to Rico's brow.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Rico fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Roberts checks it well.

and Roberts counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Roberts lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Roberts forces Rico back against the cage and clinches.
Rico manages to break the clinch.
Rico misses with a right hand
and Roberts counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Rico chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Roberts can pounce on him.
Roberts clinches up with Rico and pushes him back against the cage.
Roberts tries for a takedown. No joy.
Roberts drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rico gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonny Roberts. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Roberts has Rico pressed against the cage, preventing Rico from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Roberts creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Rod Rico has been cut.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rod Rico seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Roberts cracks Rico with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Rico swings widly with a right hand
and Roberts counters with a straight right hand.

and Roberts counters with an outside leg kick.

Roberts scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rico doesn't seem bothered though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A bone on bone clash there as Roberts blocks the leg kick.

and Roberts counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Rico is breathing heavily.
The fighters circling - Rico throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Roberts scores with a decent looking hook.
BOOM! Roberts lands a beautiful left hook that drops Rico. Rico tries to recover but Roberts is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Rico lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
