The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
St John looks to land a body kick but Donald moved away.
Donald looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
St John tries to close the distance and clinch up but Donald swats him away and circles back towards the center.

St John shoots in for a double leg but Donald sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Crunch! St John slams his shin into Donald's torso.

St John fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Donald, pushing him back against the cage.

St John breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

St John closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
St John tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

St John is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Donald is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

St John working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Donald tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. St John smiles and moves away.

St John has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Donald uses from the top position.

St John is looking to sinch up a triangle. Donald throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to St John's body to avoid the submission. St John has instead reached around Donald's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! St John arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
