Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Abdul Malik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Nilsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malik comes to the cage accompanied by Soldier Side. Daniel Nilsson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Abdul Malik's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Abdul Malik! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Nilsson! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Malik keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nilsson. Malik tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nilsson swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nilsson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nilsson tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Malik moves into the clinch. Malik manages to break the clinch.
Malik tries to clinch but fails miserably and Nilsson counters with a takedown into side control. Nilsson trying to control the position but Malik is working away. Malik bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Malik shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Nilsson counters with a takedown into side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Malik regains half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nilsson is looking to take a break and control but Malik is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Malik is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nilsson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nilsson's back! Malik is striking from the back but Nilsson escapes and manages to recover to half guard. Nilsson is trying to maintain the position but Malik is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Nilsson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Malik looking to sit in guard and control but Nilsson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Nilsson stays in close to Malik's body and controls the position. Nilsson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Malik works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Nilsson trying to control but Malik is working from the bottom. Malik trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Malik working for a triangle but Nilsson defends it easily.
Malik looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Nilsson has picked Malik up and slammed him! Malik can't keep hold of the triangle and Nilsson manages to pass to side control! Malik is breathing heavily. Malik tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nilsson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Nilsson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Abdul Malik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Malik throws a series of strikes that have Nilsson backpedaling.
Malik is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Malik closes the distance looking to clinch and Nilsson counters with a shoot takedown. Malik fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nilsson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Malik has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nilsson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Malik wants to get back to his feet but Nilsson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Nilsson trying to control the position from guard on top but Malik is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nilsson gets to his feet - Malik follows without any prompting.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Malik throws a series of punches but Nilsson moves out of range. Malik clinches. Malik is looking to break free of the clinch but Nilsson has double underhooks. Malik stops a takedown attempt from Nilsson.
Malik wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Malik escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nilsson circles away from the clinch attempt and Nilsson counters by clinching up. Malik is trying to break the clinch but Nilsson has him pressed against the cage. Nilsson is trying to stall.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nilsson prevents Malik from breaking the clinch. Nilsson keeps control of Malik as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Daniel Nilsson dominated that round. That's time! Malik's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Nilsson shoots in and bounces Malik off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Malik keeping moving, preventing Nilsson from controlling successfully. Malik trying to control the position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Nilsson stands up from guard. Let's bang! Malik looks to clinch and Nilsson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Still in the clinch, Malik scores with a nice short uppercut. Malik wants to get back to striking at distance but Nilsson won't allow it.

Malik pushes Nilsson up against the cage in a clinch. Nilsson is trying to maintain a safe position but Malik gets an underhook and turns Nilsson into the cage.

Malik scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Nilsson doesn't seem bothered though. Malik has closed the distance and engaged Nilsson in a clinch.

Abdul Malik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Nilsson. Malik breaks from the clinch.
Nilsson circles away from the clinch attempt and Nilsson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Malik won't be happy with that. You can see the frustration on Malik's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Nilsson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Malik knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Malik manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nilsson is controlling Malik's trapped leg to prevent Malik from advancing to side control. Nilsson tries to get to full guard but Malik has control of the leg. Nilsson tries to kick Malik off but Malik keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Nilsson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nilsson. Nilsson looking for a sweep. Not yet Nilsson, not yet. Nilsson working a defensive guard here.
Nilsson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Malik is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Nilsson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Malik's back instead. Nilsson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Malik has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Malik preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Nilsson. Nilsson is trying to stick to Malik's back but Malik is turning into Nilsson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Nilsson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Malik. Malik trying to control but Nilsson is working from the bottom. Malik controlling from the top position. Nilsson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Malik is one step ahead there. Malik stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nilsson swivels though and keeps the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Daniel Nilsson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action!

Malik wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Nilsson, who protects the arm well. Nilsson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Malik decides to stand back up. Malik steps back and let's Nilsson get back to his feet. Malik uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Nilsson keeps the fight on the outside. Malik closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Malik lands in his opponent's guard. Nilsson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Malik has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's one minute gone in the round. Malik wants to get up but he can't break Nilsson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Malik won't allow Nilsson to sweep him here. Malik decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Malik lands a nice looking body shot.
Nilsson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Malik scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Malik is looking to clinch. Malik tries to land a leg kick but Nilsson saw it coming and moves away.

Nilsson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nilsson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nilsson won't enjoy being in this position. Malik looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Nilsson is tapping - it's over boys! Malik picks up the submission victory!
