Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hayato Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Klerk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Klerk has chosen Get ready to TAP Aoki! as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hayato Aoki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ivan Klerk!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Klerk closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Aoki bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Klerk tries for a takedown but Aoki sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Klerk avoids the head kick by Aoki.
Klerk moves out of range as Aoki strikes.
Aoki finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Aoki throws a head kick that misses.
Aoki moves to clinch but Klerk breaks away

so Klerk counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Aoki will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Klerk trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Aoki looking to control.

Klerk has gone for a leg lock! Aoki slips out almost immediately though and dives into Klerk's guard.

Klerk had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Aoki defends it easily.

Klerk is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Aoki is aware though and is defending well.
Klerk manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Aoki manages to get himself to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Klerk tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Klerk has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Klerk wants to control but Aoki is keeping him busy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Klerk slips under a jab.
Aoki tries to close the distance and clinch but Klerk swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hayato Aoki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aoki throws a sloppy head kick

and Klerk counters with a takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here as Klerk stalls from top position.
Aoki wants to control but Klerk postures up.

Ivan Klerk has got the better of the ground game so far.
Klerk throwing strikes but Aoki manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Klerk manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Aoki is staying active underneath Klerk, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Klerk is looking for a kimura here.
Klerk is pressing down on Aoki's thigh, looking to free his foot. Aoki is holding on for now.
Aoki is not content to let Klerk control the position.

Klerk takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Klerk moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Aoki has worked his arm free - good work by Aoki!

Ivan Klerk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Klerk scores with a hook to the body. Aoki takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Klerk shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Aoki napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Klerk is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Aoki is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Klerk wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Aoki, who protects the arm well.
Aoki sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Klerk thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Aoki's head.
