PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Victor Kaidan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andred Poni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Victor Kaidan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Andred Poni!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Yamamoto.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poni tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kaidan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Poni somewhat.
A head kick misses from Kaidan.
Poni changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kaidan tries to avoid it but Poni manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kaidan to the ground. Kaidan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kaidan tries to score with a low kick but Poni moves his leg out of the way.
Poni attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Poni has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kaidan finds it's way round the side to connect with Poni's head.
Poni avoids the head kick by Kaidan.
Poni shoots and misses
and Kaidan counters with an outside leg kick.
Victor Kaidan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andred Poni.
Kaidan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Poni.

Poni is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Poni tries to keep at a distance but Kaidan has taken the fight into the clinch.
Poni is still on wobbly legs! Can Kaidan finish him?

Poni seems to have recovered his senses.
Poni blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Kaidan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Poni shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kaidan napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Poni tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Poni wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kaidan, who protects the arm well.

Poni trying to control the action but Kaidan is working from the bottom.
Poni working the ground and pound but Kaidan is defending the strikes.

Poni thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Poni prevents Kaidan from escaping the position.

Poni is trying to get an arm triangle but Kaidan is defending well.

Poni has hold of Kaidan's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Kaidan seems comfortable defending it but Poni has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Kaidan is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Kaidan is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Poni couldn't care less - he's delighted!
