PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cristiano Fereira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregory Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gregory Silva told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fereira looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Silva is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fereira knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Fereira is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Silva asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Silva decides to stand up, so the ref orders Fereira to his feet.
Fereira shoots in but Silva avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Silva smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Silva fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Fereira to the ground. Silva is now in Fereira's guard.
Fereira knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.
Silva postures up in Fereira's guard and throws a big left but Fereira blocks it.

Silva postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Fereira is working an open guard so Silva takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Silva looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Silva is working for a submission of some sort.
Silva has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Silva scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Silva thows a huge punch but Fereira dodges it nicely.

Fereira is working for takedown but Silva is calmly controlling the position for now.
Fereira is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Silva gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Fereira gets caught flat footed, as Silva shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Silva seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Fereira is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
