The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maranhao throws a head kick that Dillard semi-blocks.

Maranhao shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dillard manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Maranhao must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Dillard looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Maranhao gets to his feet - Dillard follows without any prompting.

Maranhao fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dillard to the ground. Maranhao is now in Dillard's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Maranhao stands up from Dillard's guard - Maranhao perhaps looking for a knockout.

Dillard scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Maranhao moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Dillard drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dillard jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Dillard prevents Maranhao from getting back to his feet.

Dillard would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Maranhao is looking to stand up but Dillard isn't so interested in that idea.
Dillard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maranhao swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dillard advances position into side control!

Dillard is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Maranhao is trying to escape and Dillard transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Maranhao is forced to tap! Nice work there by Dillard! Very nice indeed!
