The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spanka lands a jab to the nose.
Spanka swings for the body but Vaccaro moves out of range.
Spanka throws the left hand but Vaccaro avoids the punch easily.

Vaccaro closes the distance and clinches.
Vaccaro trying to stall but Spanka improves his position.
Vaccaro tries to circle away but Spanka has him pinned against the cage.
Spanka wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Spanka manages to break the clinch.
Vaccaro tries to close the distance and clinch up but Spanka swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Spanka stalks Vaccaro and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Vaccaro's face. Vaccaro staggers backwards, shaken.

Spanka tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Vaccaro was well out of range. Poor timing from Spanka.
Vaccaro is looking to clinch.
Spanka lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vaccaro circles away quickly and effectively.
Spanka throws out a leg kick but Vaccaro moves out of range and Spanka only half commits.

Vaccaro looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Spanka keeping moving, preventing Vaccaro from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spanka preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Spanka is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Vaccaro decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Spanka, up you get!
Spanka smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Spanka darts in and clinches Vaccaro up against the cage.
Vaccaro is trying to push Spanka away but Spanka has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Vaccaro is working for takedown but Spanka is calmly controlling the position for now.
Vaccaro tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Spanka smiles and moves away.

Vaccaro doesn't manage to clinch there - Spanka circles away.
Spanka lands a glancing blow to the side of Vaccaro's head.

Vaccaro shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Spanka napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Spanka is not content to let Vaccaro control the position.

Vaccaro stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Spanka scores with a jab to the body.
Spanka is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Vaccaro keeps the fight on the outside.

Spanka lands with a shot to the body.
Vaccaro tries to move into range but Spanka moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Vaccaro moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Vaccaro throws a head kick that misses.
Spanka fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Vaccaro wants to clinch up but Spanka keeps it at a distance.
Spanka lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vaccaro circles away quickly and effectively.

Vaccaro has managed to clinch.
Vaccaro misses with a short punch on the inside.

Vaccaro escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Spanka tests Vaccaro's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Spanka blocks the body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Vaccaro feints and as Spanka raises his hands in defense, Vaccaro changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Vaccaro wants to control from the top but Spanka keeps moving.
This has been an exciting period of action!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Spanka can do anything to dispel that myth.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Vaccaro decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Spanka, up you get!
Vaccaro ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Spanka moves away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vaccaro shoots in for a takedown but Spanka shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenny Vaccaro. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Spanka looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Spanka smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Spanka circles away from the clinch attempt.
Spanka moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Vaccaro tries to close the distance and clinch up but Spanka swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Oh Vaccaro is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Spanka with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Spanka swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Vaccaro.
Spanka dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Vaccaro takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vaccaro gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Spanka gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
