Slate's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Some song he made last night. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valuyskiy takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Valuyskiy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Slate napping and manages to drive through into side control!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Valuyskiy wants to control but Slate is keeping him busy.

Valuyskiy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Valuyskiy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Valuyskiy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Slate tries to improve position but can't.
Slate is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Valuyskiy wants to control but Slate is keeping him busy.

Valuyskiy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Slate defends it well.

Valuyskiy seems to be looking for submissions.

Slate tries to get to full guard but Valuyskiy has control of the leg.
Slate manages to get to full guard.
Valuyskiy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Slate swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Slate wants to sweep but no luck.
Slate manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The referee warns Valuyskiy that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Slate is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Valuyskiy can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

It looks like Aleksandr Valuyskiy has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Slate tries to control but Valuyskiy wriggling away.
Slate is landing with some decent strikes but Valuyskiy is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Aleksandr Valuyskiy's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
