PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Oleg Kovnir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Emelyanenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kovnir comes to the cage accompanied by National Anthem of Ukraine. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovnir scores with a jab to the body.

and Emelyanenko decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kovnir's guard.

Kovnir wants to get back to his feet but Emelyanenko is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Emelyanenko is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Kovnir to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Kovnir wants to stand but Emelyanenko is controlling the position.
Kovnir trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Kovnir could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Emelyanenko drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Emelyanenko jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kovnir is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Kovnir is trying to force a seperation but Emelyanenko has the dominant position.
Emelyanenko wants a takedown but no success here.

Kovnir escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Emelyanenko avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kovnir tries to bum rush Emelyanenko with a series of wild strikes but Emelyanenko uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

A right-left combo lands from Kovnir.
Emelyanenko shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kovnir pinned against the cage. Kovnir gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A punch combination from Kovnir misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Emelyanenko is cranking Kovnir's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Kovnir! He's tightened the choke and Kovnir is tapping out!
