Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Die MTF (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Rawls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Die MTF!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Rawls!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rawls shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
MTF will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

MTF has his foot on Rawls's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rawls works his way back into a safe position though.

I really don't envy MTF right now.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Rawls's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

MTF rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

MTF is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Rawls pulls his head out easily.

Rawls looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rawls passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for MTF!

Rawls trying to mount his opponent but MTF defends it.

Rawls is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, MTF has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are battling for position here. MTF manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
MTF looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rawls is one step ahead there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
MTF scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

and Rawls counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in MTF's guard now.
MTF is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

MTF is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

MTF shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

MTF is defending against the submission attempts here by Rawls.
John Rawls has got the better of the ground game so far.

MTF postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rawls is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of MTF, into his guard.

Rawls drops back looking for a leg! MTF is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and MTF manages to kick Rawls off! Rawls jumps back into MTF's guard.

MTF bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rawls's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

MTF isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Rawls stacks MTF on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Rawls!

Rawls is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and MTF defends it well.

A head kick misses from MTF.
MTF throws a right and a left that Rawls avoids nicely.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from MTF.

MTF bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Rawls moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Rawls had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. MTF is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rawls Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take MTF's back instead.

Rawls throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! MTF escapes and throws Rawls's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Rawls working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. MTF doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. MTF manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
