The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigues shoots for a takedown but Prime saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rodrigues throws a front kick aimed at Prime's knee but Prime avoids it well.
Rodrigues misses with a leg kick.

Prime drives through with a takedown into guard.

Rodrigues is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Prime trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Prime throws and elbow that misses. Rodrigues uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Prime's guard. Nice move by Rodrigues!
Prime has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Prime is looking for a triangle but Rodrigues pushes his legs off easily.
Prime wants to sweep but no luck.

Rodrigues thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Prime is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rodrigues defends well.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ricardo Rodrigues wasn't active enough on the ground.
Prime stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Prime wants it to stay on the feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close round but Ricardo Rodrigues will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Prime scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Prime tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Prime has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Prime in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Rodrigues is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
