The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fourie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
No joy there for Masdival, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A slow jab from Masdival misses its intended target.
Fourie tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Masdival manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Fourie shoots for a takedown but Masdival saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Fourie doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Masdival counters with a one-two to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alexander Fourie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Masdival lands a high kick!
Fourie slips a jab and a cross from Masdival.
Fourie closes the distance but Masdival moves to the side
and Masdival counters with a leg kick.
Masdival throws a head kick that misses.
Masdival throws a leg kick which misses Fourie's front leg but catches the back leg as Fourie tries to avoid it.

Fourie closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Masdival did well to prevent Fourie getting side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Fourie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Fourie is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Masdival is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
