PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Commodore Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kien Ngo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Commodore Perry!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kien Ngo!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Ngo misses.
Ngo lands with a nice body punch.
Ngo will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

and Perry counters with a low kick, right behind Ngo 's knee.
Perry tries to clinch but Ngo is having none of it.
Perry misses with an uppercut. Ngo saw that one coming.
Ngo rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Ngo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Perry bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ngo's head.
Perry throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ngo circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ngo gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Ngo dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ngo steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Perry.
Ngo lands a nice hook to Perry's body. Perry takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Ngo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Perry tries to avoid it but Ngo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Perry to the ground. Perry escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ngo shoots in and bounces Perry off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Ngo won't allow Perry to sweep him here.
Ngo wants to pass the guard but Perry is keeping the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ngo throws a big right hand that misses.
Ngo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Perry swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Perry tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Perry uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ngo.
Ngo throws a body punch but Perry moves out of range.
Perry's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ngo under the eye.
Ngo misses with an uppercut
and Perry counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Ngo is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Perry rather than just go for the knockout.
Ngo wants to land a leg kick but Perry is out of range.
Perry tests Ngo's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Perry.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ngo misses the shot to the body.
Perry connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ngo. Ngo circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Ngo looks to throw the jab but Perry is out of range.

Perry thows a body shot but no joy.
A telegraphed right hand from Perry misses the target.
Perry throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ngo sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ngo works over Perry's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Commodore Perry has been cut.

Perry moves into the clinch.
Ngo prevents a body shot from Perry.
Perry misses with an elbow strike.

Perry's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ngo takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Perry lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Perry.
Ngo staying out of range there.
Perry throws a big shot that misses.
Ngo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Perry.
Perry is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Ngo dives in and grabs Perry's left leg, looking for a takedown. Perry pushes down on Ngo's head and hops out.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Perry has taken the fight to the clinch.

Ngo is trying to push Perry away but Perry has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Ngo throws a head punch that misses.
Ngo on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Ngo is stalling here.
Perry throws a knee to the head but misses.
Ngo is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Ngo misses with a shot to the kidneys.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Perry misses with a short punch on the inside.
Ngo blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Perry misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Ngo.
Ngo goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Commodore Perry will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ngo takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Good work by Perry as he checks the leg kick.

Perry avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Perry moves into the clinch successfully.

Perry manages to break the clinch.

Ngo looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Perry!

Perry takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Ngo's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kien Ngo!
